BCA-IG meeting, 13-14 November 2018
The Industrial Group of the British Crystallography Association and the CCP-NC are happy to announce a joint meeting entitled "Holistic Approaches to Structural Characterisation" on the 13-14th November (mid-morning to lunchtime).
The meeting will focus on presenting NMR crystallography (particularly of small molecule organics) to crystallographers working in industry, as well as providing opportunities for crystallographers to explain the challenges they face. It should be an excellent opportunity to establish new contacts, so do reserve the dates in your diary.
The Meeting Programme is now available.
A meeting information sheet is now available. Please note that the evening meal will be held in the Collage restaurant of the Radisson Blu hotel, which is a short walk from the meeting venue. Given the numbers, this will be a fixed menu, based on dietary preferences taken at registration. Please amend your registration at least one week before the meeting date if you would prefer vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian options.
Early Career Research Session:
Two speaker slots have been reserved for early career researchers (PhD students towards the end of their studies, postdoctoral researchers or equivalent). If you are interested in presenting, please email the meeting organisers (Helen Blade, Luca Russo, Paul Hodgkinson) with a short "pitch" containing the title of your proposed talk, a few sentences explaining how the talk fits in with the theme of the meeting, and how this presentation would support your career plans.
Please copy in your research supervisor in your email. Speakers will receive free registration. Applications must be submitted before Friday 28th September and all decisions will be made and communicated by Friday 12th October.
Bursaries available for the meeting:
Applications for all financial support must be submitted before Friday 28th September and all decisions will be made and communicated by Friday 12th October.
Within the BCA-IG we are eager to support young researchers and showcase the application of crystallography within industry. It is with this in mind that we host an early career research session at our Autumn Industrial Group meetings, to ensure researchers at the beginning stages of their careers have the opportunity to present and network within this group. On top of this, we are also able to offer a limited number of free registrations places for the meeting. Any current students may apply by contacting the IG chair Helen.Blade@astrazeneca.com with a brief justification. We ask that if a bursary is offered and taken up the awardee will be prepared to write a short note for either our website and newsletter about the event.
The BCA IG recognises that there are many occasions when our members might have extra difficulty in attending our meetings and in being active members of the wider community. This can be for any number of reasons and the IG wishes to offer a bursary towards expenses to make attendance possible in special circumstances in the sum of £250. Anyone may apply by contacting the chair Helen Blade with a brief justification. We ask that if a bursary is offered and taken up the awardee will be prepared to write a short note for either our website and newsletter about the event.
Registration is now open: register here.
